Colin in Black and White
In this six-part series, Colin Kaepernick and Ava DuVernay explore his formative years in high school while informing the audience of similar injustices occurring throughout the country on a larger scale. In each episode, Colin experiences and tackles issues as a biracial teenager. Colin grew up with adoptive white parents in a predominantly white community. The incidents that happened when Colin was younger helped him become the activist and leader he is today. Colin and Ava dive deep into the complexities and insecurities he experiences while realizing racial inequality. I enjoyed this series for its honesty, love of sports, and bringing to light the issues that continue to plague our country.
